How to switch from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S8

If the Infinity Displays on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have you itching to jump off the iOS bandwagon, you aren’t alone. I just made the switch from an iPhone 6 to the Galaxy S8 and it turns out it’s easier than ever to switch from iOS to Android. But here are a few things you need to know before you start using your Galaxy S8. Disable iMessage Before you do anything, you need to deregister your phone number from iMessage. This is the most important step if you’re switching from iOS to Android. If you forget to disable or deregister your number from Apple’s servers, every other iPhone will still think you have an iPhone. When your friends with iOS send an iMessage, you’ll never see it. Head into your iMessage settings on every iOS or MacOS device you own — it will need to be disabled on every Apple device registered to your iCloud account. On a Mac, head into Messages -> settings. Remove your phone number and uncheck “enable this account.” To disable iMessage on your iPad, head into setti

IDG Contributor Network: What makes Samsung Galaxy S8 the best phone you can buy

I pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S8 as soon as Samsung started taking orders. The phone arrived last week. For purposes of comparison, I have been using it alongside my iPhone 7 Plus and Google Pixel XL.This review is based on my own experience and how the phone could help me in my personal and professional life.Beauty lies in the… First things first, the hardware. Samsung Galaxy S8 is powered by MSM 8998 Octa Core 2.35Ghz (Quad Core) + 1.9Ghz (Quad) processor and 4GB of RAM. But beyond that, it’s a beautiful phone — from tip to toe. If I can paraphrase a dialogue from the movie The Matrix, I would say, ‘there is no phone, it’s just the screen.’To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here

Samsung Galaxy S8 review: The best phone ever made, only smaller

If you haven’t yet read our extensive review of the Galaxy S8+, you should. Nearly everything said about that phone applies to the smaller Galaxy S8. It’s got the same gorgeous design, the same best-ever display, the same awesome camera, same processor, memory, storage, features…it’s just smaller. The display is 5.8 inches instead of 6.2, and the battery is 3,000 mAh instead of 3,500. These differences, and a price tag about $130 lower, are all the separate the Galaxy S8 from the S8+. That means the problems with the S8+ are apparent here as well, namely an unbelievably bad fingerprint sensor location and the lackluster debut of Samsung’s Bixby AI assistant. Both are annoying, but generally avoidable, and thus only slightly tarnish the Galaxy S8’s shine. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here

5 underrated features of the Samsung Galaxy S8

Since receiving my review unit of the Samsung Galaxy S8, I’ve barely reached for my iPhone 6. And while I test the device for my in-depth enterprise review, I’ve stumbled across some features I think are underrated. The most prominent features of the S8 are easy to spot and highly publicized — the bezel-free Infinity Display, the Super AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution and virtual integrated home button. The design and display drew me in, but I’ve found a lot more to love about the Galaxy S8 — even in some areas I least expected. Here are the five most surprising features I’ve found on the Samsung Galaxy S8.To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here

Everything we think we know about Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S3

It’s been a long time since there’s been any news about a premium Android tablet. What was once a burgeoning product category has fallen flat as high-end phones become bigger and more powerful, and most new tablets that have been released over the past year are either targeted at budget buyers or children. But with the Galaxy S8 delayed until the spring, Samsung has all but confirmed it will be bringing a new high-end tablet to Mobile World Congress this year. And it looks to be a solid upgrade. The Galaxy Tab S2 has been on shelves since 2015, so Samsung has had a lot of time to think about what it wants from its flagship Android tablet. And while most people will probably still be talking about the Galaxy S8 teaser Samsung is expected to unveil at its MWC event, the Tab S3 isn’t a throwaway release. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here

Samsung Galaxy S8: What we know so far

Samsung is expected to announce its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8, in April, but it looks like we won’t have to wait that long to see the final product. Evan Blass from VentureBeat, who has a reputation for reporting legitimate smartphone leaks, published images last week showing the designs of the two forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 models. Based on the images, it looks like past reports from The Guardian were correct: The new Galaxy S8 will be available in two sizes, featuring thin bezels allowing for more screen real-estate than the Galaxy Note 7 in a smaller form factor. Two edge models VentureBeat reports that Samsung will release two versions of the Galaxy S8 – a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch model — but both will feature the edge-design. Unlike past years, you won’t have a choice between the edge display and a more traditional display. It also looks like Samsung ditched the physical home button on the S8, leaving more room for the oversized, infinity display. Devices will feat
