File Sharing online and offline “Dropbox/Dead drops”

http://deaddrops.com/

Correction you start with 2.5Gb not mb for Dropbox

https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTk1MzM2OTc5?src=global0

‘Dead Drops’ is an anonymous, offline, peer to peer file-sharing network in public space. USB flash drives are embedded into walls, buildings and curbs accessable to anybody in public space. Everyone is invited to drop or find files on a dead drop. Plug your laptop to a wall, house or pole to share your favorite files and data. Each dead drop is installed empty except a readme.txt file explaining the project. ‘Dead Drops’ is open to participation. If you want to install a dead drop in your city/neighborhood follow the ‘how to’ instructions and submit the location and pictures.

I am a Berlin based media artist and started the ‘Dead Drops’ project during my stay in NYC at EYEBEAM as artist in residence, October 2010.

My View: With the way the Government is cracking down on Torrent sites and threatening the Internet with another Censorship bill” patriot act” to spy on people, it makes you think how can we as a people keep our file sharing going. How can we change things for the better?

The Government hates it when people share anything from Information skills, files, videos, documents, books, e-books, resources, food, water and energy. It really doesn’t help them at all when we cooperate and share.

Also Pirate bay is another one of my favorites

Working from Home with Office 365

Working from home is the dream of many corporate cubicle workers. The idea of signing on to the corporate network from the comfort of your pajama pants and bunny slippers without anyone knowing you’re still wearing PJs. Often you only get pieces of the office communication infrastructure. Microsoft Office 365 attempts to deliver all the tools of the modern office no matter where you authenticate. With instant messaging, video chat, softphone forwarding to any phone or computer, and the ability to conference coworkers, you get access to all the same features available when connected locally to the corporate network. LockerGnome’s Brandon Wirtz spoke to Microsoft Voice TSP, Victor Shumskiy, about how he uses Microsoft Lync to remove the office barrier in this interview from HP Discover.
