How to fix web browsing error in Outlook Web App?

I’m trying to log into my school e-mail account, and every time I have tried to on this computer, a box with "Web browsing Error has occurred" pops up. I’m not allowed to do anything but look at the mail inbox screen.

Please help! My classes start monday and I have no way to e-mail my professors if I need to, and I have no idea what’s wrong.

I think I found the fix. This works for me anyway, hopefully it will work for you too.

In Internet Explorer under the ‘Tools’ drop down menu, I selected ‘Manage Add-ons’.

From there make sure ‘Toolbars and Extensions’ on the left is highlighted. On the right I selected all of my Divx add-ons and disabled them.

I closed my browser and re-opened it. I can now use Outlook Web Access !

Hope this helps,
Dave

HI Kelly,

I am getting the exact same error. Please post when you have it fixed and I will do the same. I have sent an e-mail to my university’s classroom support services group and hopefully they will respond asap as I need to use this account for my class as well.

Dave

why is Outlook Web App ruining my e-mail?

i have an E-mail that is specifically for my college and whenever i go to it on my laptop it gives me the error message: This account does not have an Outlook Web App mailbox. and it doesn’t let me get to my mail. Now i know this account DOES have outlook web app mailbox because it works on my home computer. I would like it to work in google chrome but i think i’ve read somewhere that it only works on Safari and IE. Of course i’ve tried to get to my e-mail on both of those browsers. Does anyone know a solution to this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :]

Sounds like you may need to autenticate it on your computer? My advice is check with your college’s It website ot contact them. They would know more and maybe have this problem all the time.

how to set up Outlook web access?

I want to use an app "iMExchange2" for an Iphone that will allow me to sync my Outlook tasks. It requires info on server and domain name. It requires use of "Outlook web access". How do I setup my Yahoo mail plus email with "Outlook web access"? It appears that I may need an Exchange server. I don’t see that I have one but am not sure.

Outlook Web Access is a component of Microsoft Exchange server. If you don’t have Exchange you will not be able to use this App.

Is there a way to sync my college Outlook Web App email address with my iPhone mail application?

My college sets each student up with their own email address (blahblahblah@fscj.edu). These email addresses run on an online web app of Outlook. Is there anyway I can sync this with my iPhone’s Mail application? I’ve tried and it then takes me to a screen with the IMAP or POP options, ingoing and outgoing host names, etc. Does anyone know how to set it up?

Thanks in advance.
ZS
That also asks me for information which I do not know for sure, like the domain and server name.
I guessed the server name was blah.outlook.com up in the address bar, but the domain name I do not know, and when I pressed "Next", it said it couldn’t do it.

Your college is probably using a Microsoft Exchange server. Just select Microsoft Exchange when you set up a new account.

How can I access my microsoft outlook web access pop info?

I need to gain the pop or inmp (?) info for my exsisting Microsoft Outlook Web Access account so that I can sync it into another email app. How can I get this info? Is there a standard pop? What about port #’s?

Your question is way too vague. Is it a work account, or something else?

Where can I find a picture from the 1970/80s of an office with people working at their desks like in 9 to 5?

I am trying to find this type of picture to demonstrate the differences between workplaces of the past and now. I have seen images like this in movies like 9 to 5 and in Superman where there is a large room with many people working independently at desks. Any specific picture sources that show office type work environments with no collaboration would be great. I’ve already tried Google image searches and Flickr.

You can find a lot of pictures on the Smithsonian website here: http://www.smithsonianeducation.org/educators/lesson_plans/carbons/start.html , specifically http://www.smithsonianeducation.org/educators/lesson_plans/carbons/images/cbi80s-lg.gif (1988) and http://www.smithsonianeducation.org/educators/lesson_plans/carbons/images/ibmbw-lg.gif (1987). There are also lots of older photos of offices on that website.

I also found this from 1965: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/corporate/pressoffice/images/commsroom1965.jpg

Here is a newsroom from the 1970s-1980s. There aren’t any overviews, but there are lots of interesting shots. http://www.nyradionews.com/wabc/picture.gallery.html

what is office automation and an everyday example?

I have to write a paper about office automation and group collaboration for school but no matter what i read i still don’t get it. can someone please explain it in the simplest terms possible with and example? Thank You.

Automation is taking a job that a person used to do manually and having technology do it. As a broad example, an ATM is automated. It used to be that people HAD to go and see a teller whenever they wanted to deposit or withdraw money. Now, they can do it at an ATM (short for Automated Teller Machine). This creates efficiencies for the organization in that it saves on the labor it takes to keep up the customer service. However, it usually generates work on a different end. In this example, the organization now needs to hire someone to maintain the ATM, put money in it, take money out of it and balance it to make sure there is not missing or extra money. But this workload is much more efficient because it does not take as much labor to do this as it does to help every single customer that comes into the bank. (By the way, labor is usually the highest cost for any organization.)

As for office automation, think of it as taking a manual office process and having technology do it. In an office, any computer software that crunches numbers is a really good example. I am in HR so I will use a classic HR example: payroll.

It used to be that back in the day, a company would need a whole team of Payroll people to manually calculate employees’ wages, taxes, benefits, etc. (The list goes on and on….) It is such a long process that one person could not possibly handle it alone. Now with automation, there are many payroll software packages that can calculate all of these things based on various percentages. One person can handle it because all they need to do is make sure that things like hours are entered correctly and make sure everything balances at the end. They don’t actually have to crunch every single number for every single employee. Just think, if a person has to crunch 20 different numbers for each employee and there are 100 employees, this could take a really loooong time…. However, if they have software that can do the nitty gritty and they just have to oversee it and make sure things are correct, that sure does save a lot of time.

I really hope that this helps you, but you may have to do additional research. Good luck!
